Indiana Jones Choose Your Own Adventure

For my choose your own adventure game I made a Indiana Jones themed adventure that is set in a pyramid and you re looking for a tomb of a unknown pharaoh. I found this flash project alot of fun.

McDonald's Banner Ad

This is an image of my McDonalds Ad that I made in class. I really enjoyed this assignment because unlike working out of the flash book you got to choose what your ad was about. I was really happy about how it turned out. It looked like something you would see normally for an ad. I really enjoyed this assignment.

Flash Book Stuff (Gah)

These are some of the things i made out of the flash book. It was kinda boring because we didnt get to pick what we made. But I guess we have to learn the basics before we can get into our own stuff.

Research in Motion Assignment

Research in Motion
By: Connor Whitehouse

Research in Motion manufactures, designs and markets handheld wireless devices for the world’s communications network. Their products are always above the competition and they are constantly adding new features to them that have been thought to be impossible. RIM’s most popular product by far is the Black Berry. It can perform or use more programs and tools than a computer can plus it can do it from anywhere. These programs and tools include wireless phone service, e-mail, text messaging, Internet browser access, instant messaging (MSN), organizer applications, camera, media player (audio and video), integrated mapping system and GPS. This makes the Black Berry a very popular item for active people in the world of business. It can keep a person connected with their job or business from almost any location in the world, which can be very convenient for them.

One factor that affects Research in Motion is the strength of the Canadian dollar. RIM is based out of Waterloo, Ontario so the fact that the Canadian dollar is strong at the moment would create difficulty when they want to export their product because it costs the buyer more money to buy their product because its value in Canadian dollars is larger. This obviously affects the business greatly. Along with the loss of sales, the high dollar could result in lost jobs due to the lack of demand and the lack of money to pay the workers salary.

Another factor that affects RIM is its legal issues over patent infringement with Motorola and the Black Berry service outage about ten days ago. These two problems affect the image of the company in a very negative way. If a potential customer hears about the Black Berry service outage or the lawsuit against RIM, they could reconsider their purchase and buy the product of another company that was thought to be more reliable.

In the Motorola lawsuit, both companies are accusing each other for copying one of the Wi-Fi featured used on both phones.

The Black Berry service outage was blamed on an update in the system that was added a few days earlier. RIM is not giving much more information than that so some reporters are coming up with alternate possibilities for the crash like an employee of the company purposely disrupting the system or that the system overloaded due to mass usage.

At the moment, Research in Motion is doing well financially but they can’t continue to mark their image in the business world with all of these lawsuits and lapses in service if they want to continue the success that they are currently experiencing.

Computer Speakers/Microphone
Connor Whitehouse

Clement Ader is thought to be the first person to demonstrate the first two-channel audio system when he was re-transmitting an Opera performance to an Electrical Exhibition in 1881. Other experiments were conducted to create a stereo sound at Bell in the 1930’s when many microphones were hung above an orchestra while they were playing. Each microphone was connected to an individual loudspeaker in a separate listening room. This was an attempt at recreating the orchestra’s sound in an alternate location. A speaker uses electricity to change the pressure of the air that it sends out to make different sounds. The higher the change in frequency is the higher the pitch of the sound is. The speaker changes the air pressure by using an electromagnet called the voice coil in conjunction with the diaphragm (the dome-like part that we see). The dome is attached to the electromagnet that is magnetically suspended. When electricity is sent through the magnet it moves up and down, moving the dome up and down. This is what changes the air pressure and creates the sound. A microphone works in almost the exact same way but in reverse. The sound that you make moves a diaphragm that disrupts an electric current. This disruption determines the sound that is recorded or produced by whatever the microphone is being used for. Stereo sound has a wide variety of uses today. It is the standard sound type for most headphones and it is used in most standard definition television broadcasts to name a few. The first microphone was invented in 1876 by Emile Berliner and was used as a telephone voice transmitter for the Bell phone company. Along with the invention of the radio came recording mics (Ribbon Microphone) in 1942.Into the 1970’s dynamic and condenser mics were created which can achieve a lower sound level sensitivity and were much clearer than the previous version.
